Synlait commits to sustainable future
New SBC member Synlait Milk has committed to reducing its environmental impact significantly over the next ten years. It has released a long list of bold commitments, including a pledge to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 35 per cent per kilogram of milksolids on-farm, and 50 per cent off-farm by 2028. More here.
Business lessons on Science Based Targets
SBC, WWF and Enviro-Mark Solutions recently ran their second workshop on Science Based Targets and it’s now online. In this session, SBC members Contact Energy, Ports of Auckland and Fletcher Building share their learnings on setting science based targets. 
Vector Lights celebrate Matariki 
Vector Lights and Auckland Council are celebrating Matariki, the Māori New Year festival, every Friday and Saturday night between 6PM and midnight, until July 22. Be sure to check it out. The light show tells the story of Te Kawerau a Maki and the importance of their role as kaitiaki - guardians of the land and the natural environment. 
New Kiwi Guardian sites for Auckland region 
The Toyota Kiwi Guardians national network now has 100 adventure sites across Aotearoa, following the launch of four new sites in the Auckland region. The goal of the Kiwi Guardians conservation programme is to encourage Kiwi kids to protect and conserve NZ land, sea, fauna and flora in the decades to come.

Elections for Advisory Board + FLP Alumni 
Nominations for the SBC Advisory Board and Future Leaders' Alumni representative will be open from 16 - 25 July, and voting from 23 July - 8 August. The results will be announced at SBC's Annual Council Meeting on 15 August. Check your inbox for further details.

Event series on child poverty, wellbeing and human capital


Westpac and KPMG are sponsoring a Presbyterian Support Northern Lecture Series focused on child poverty.
There are several
events in Wellington and Auckland in July, which will cover a broad range of issues, including social housing, child poverty measures and public investment.
