Sustainability boost for corporate reputations 
SBC members featured highly in the Colmar Brunton Corporate Reputation Index 2019, released with Wright Communications last week. Nine of them appeared in the top twenty brands rated for responsibility, fairness, success / leadership, and trust, with Air New Zealand at the top for the 5th year running. 
Informing the next generation
Recently 20 students from 5 different secondary schools visited Genesis where CEO Marc England talked to them about climate change, the energy sector and the specific challenges and opportunities for New Zealand in getting to 100% renewable. Genesis also hosted 56 students as part of the Blake Inspire programme for a presentation from Marc and a tour of the Huntly power station. 
Environment Aotearoa
The Ministry for the Environment and Stats NZ have released Environment Aotearoa 2019, looking at nine priority environmental issues. SBC has put out a media release in response.   
Technological change and the future of work
The Productivity Commission are looking at disruptive technological change and its impact on work, and have released an issues paper for consultation. We will be watching with interest given our work in this area
First New Zealand Fellow of IEMA named
Enviro-Mark Solutions’ Chief Executive Dr Ann Smith has been named the first IEMA Fellow from New Zealand. The Fellowship recognises her 40-year career commitment to leadership in sustainability, and expertise in carbon measurement, management and mitigation. IEMA is the leading membership organisation for sustainability professionals. Congratulations!

Infrastructure rating tools for sustainability
Dr Kerry Griffiths, Technical Director at AECOM, has recently completed her PhD on sustainability and infrastructure, looking at the role of rating tools in driving sustainable outcomes. Rating tools are used by the likes of NZTA, Auckland Transport, Watercare Services and City Rail Link Limited. More in this article.  
Diversity Works Survey
The results of the 2019 New Zealand Workplace Diversity Survey are now out, and almost all diversity issues are seen as more important than in previous years. Diversity Works have identified five key questions that organisations need to ask themselves to keep making progress.
