Another science-based target approved
Contact Energy has had its Science-Based Targets approved for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. WWF NZ works with New Zealand businesses to help them understand how the targets can work for them.   
Climate Leaders update
CLC members have provided ten tips for businesses who want to transition their company fleets to electric vehicles (Idealog). Rob Campbell, Director of SKYCITY and thl, talks about why carbon measurement matters (NBR - subscriber access). And Ricoh, Soar Print, Sistema, CHEP New Zealand, O-I and Sudima Hotels are the latest to join the CLC, bringing the total to 87. 
Container key to energy learning
Waikino School near Waihi has celebrated winning the Genesis Energising Young Minds competition, which saw the community beat out hundreds of schools nationwide to win $10,000 to spend on STEM learning equipment. The teachers and students chose a solar-powered multi-use STEM shipping container. 
OfficeMax takes on tech waste
OfficeMax has partnered with Croxley Recycling and Australia and New Zealand Recycling Platform (ANZRP) for the Tech Collect programme, New Zealand’s first free dedicated e-waste recycling service. Individual customers can drop off e-waste in stores, and business customers can use a collection service for a small fee. 
thinkstep talks B Corp
Barbara Nebel talked to Andrea De Almeida, B Lab’s Executive Director for Australia and New Zealand about the rapidly growing global movement of B Corps “using their businesses as a force for good”. Currently two SBC members, Enviro-Mark Solutions and thinkstep are B Corp certified.
Environment Aotearoa in the news
Abbie Reynolds talked to RNZ following the release of Environment Aotearoa 2019 about the increase in businesses taking sustainability seriously. And EECA is working with many SBC/CLC members across the transport, business, and residential sectors to help New Zealanders decarbonise the way we move around and how we use energy.
