Abbie Reynolds stepping down 
Yesterday's Annual Council Meeting revealed some big changes ahead for SBC. Executive Director Abbie Reynolds is stepping down after more than three years in the job, and the hunt for a new Executive Director is on. Thank you Abbie for your transformative leadership. 
New SBC Board Chair appointed 
Karen Silk, Westpac's commercial, corporate and institutional general manager, has been elected as SBC's new board chair. Alistair Davis is standing down from the position, but will stay on the board. Thank you Alistair for your dedication to sustainability and passionate leadership.
Looking back to look forward
Our annual council meeting also explored the last 20 years of sustainable business in New Zealand and where it might head to next. SBC members were urged to connect with their local community with advice from Generation Zero, ActionStation and the Innovation Unit. For those of you who missed the meeting, videos of the presentations will be available next week. 
Marking 20 years of sustainable business 
To mark 20 years since the New Zealand Business Council for Sustainable Development was founded, the forerunner of SBC, we have unveiled a new graphic highlighting some key events in sustainable business since then. Download the PDF 
Cutting construction industry emissions 
A new report commissioned by the New Zealand Green Building Council and authored by thinkstep has found a reduction in emissions from building materials like steel, timber and concrete could be the equivalent of taking nearly 500,000 cars off the road. 
Fletcher Building emissions target confirmed
Fletcher Building has confirmed it is targeting a 30% reduction in emissions by 2030, and is also the first construction materials company in Australia and New Zealand to commit to setting a Science Based Target for carbon reduction.
Park and power up at Wellington Zoo
Wellington Zoo is helping seal the road to a better future, with a new electric vehicle charging station installed just outside the Zoo. The site is located on Manchester Street in Newtown, and can charge two EVs simultaneously with two medium-speed chargers. 
Ravensdowns' first integrated report
Ravensdown has released its first ever Integrated Report and audited annual accounts. The report outlines the company's progress on several fronts beyond financial measures, including the environment, innovation and well-being. 
Carbon calculator for lower freight emissions 
This new Climate Leaders Coalition case study looks at how Lyttelton Port Company helped their customers, including The Warehouse Group, calculate how to reduce their carbon emissions from freight by up to 50%, by working with Aecom, KiwiRail and Enviro-Mark Solutions. 
Workplace wellness report
Southern Cross and BusinessNZ have today released the 2019 Workplace Wellness Report, which has found that workplace culture is shifting and staff are less likely to turn up to work when they are sick. 
Future of Work survey - have your say

Convergence for a carbon transition 2020 - 2030
