Abbie Reynolds' remarks to the United Nations
Abbie Reynolds, our Executive Director, spoke to the United Nations High-Level Political Forum today in support of New Zealand’s first progress report on the Sustainable Development Goals, delivered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade - and in particular about NZ business progress on climate action. This playlist also has Abbie's video blogs with highlights from the various side events during the week.
NZ business progress on the SDGs
The progress report highlighted examples of NZ businesses advancing the SDGs, in particular The Warehouse, Vector, Fonterra and Auckland Council. Read the stories here, along with a new case study from Christchurch Airport on how they used the SDGs to embed a culture of sustainability. 
Climate change coverage needs hope, solutions
Just ahead of the first anniversary of the Climate Leaders Coalition, Stuff surveyed their readers about media coverage of climate change, and received over 15,000 responses. An overwhelming number wanted to hear more to inspire hope and more about solutions. Highly relevant if you are wondering where to put your storytelling efforts.

When SBC, EECA, Ministry for the Environment and WWF New Zealand started designing EMBARK they had one clear, shared goal: enabling action on climate change. No new coal boilers for Fonterra 
Fonterra has announced a new commitment to reduce its reliance on coal, eleven years earlier than anticipated. Effective immediately, Fonterra will not install any new coal boilers or increase its capacity to burn coal. We welcome this significant announcement from one of the founding members of the Climate Leaders Coalition. How to lower emissions in construction 
Jeff Vickers of thinkstep Australasia and Ian Jones of Fletcher Building spoke to Morning Report today about what might be involved in reducing carbon emissions in the construction industry. 
New reports on agriculture and electrification 
The Interim Climate Change Committee’s two reports – Action on agricultural emissions and Accelerated electrification - have now been released, and Waste Management welcomes the call for more EVs
New independent advisory board  
Waste Management join the handful of leading NZ companies who have appointed an independent Sustainability Advisory Board. Sir Rob Fenwick, Lisa Martin and Tim Manukau will provide guidance and oversight to Waste Management’s sustainability strategy For Future Generations.
