Gerri Ward - Liaison Delegate Representative

Sustainability and Community Manager Z Energy Limited

Gerri Ward

Gerri Ward leads the Sustainability and Community programme at Z Energy. She’s passionate about transformational behaviour change that empowers and enables sustainable business, and better communities. Prior to joining Z in 2012, she led the across-government Biodiversity Offsetting research programme at the Department of Conservation; and before that, was at the Ministry for the Environment for five years, working on business opportunities out of climate change, and leading the Carbon Neutral Public Service and voluntary corporate carbon neutrality programmes. Gerri holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Waikato, and a Master of Laws (LL.M) in International Environmental Law from the University of Nottingham (UK).

In her role at Z Energy, she leads a programme that will enable and empower:

  • An environmentally sustainable New Zealand that is an example to the rest of the world and an inspiration to Kiwis; and will move Z from being a part of the climate change problem to the heart of the solution; and
  • A resilient and healthy Aotearoa New Zealand that empowers our youth, neighbourhoods, and Z whanau.

This includes embedding low-carbon solutions across Z’s business, integrating sustainable decision-making across the enterprise and our supply chain, leading Z’s grassroots community support programme, empowering disadvantaged youth into discovering their full potential, and helping make Z and our communities more inclusive and diverse.
