The Climate Leaders Coalition was launched in July 2018 to promote business leadership and collective action on climate change. Signatories have committed to measuring and publicly reporting their greenhouse gas emissions, setting a public emissions reduction target, and working with suppliers to reduce their emissions. The New Zealand Green Building Council is a team of people who are passionate advocates for better buildings, because better buildings mean healthier, happier Kiwis.New Zealanders want all of our homes and buildings to be healthy places. For our children. For our businesses. For our whānau. For our environment. Over 450 organisations are members of the NZGBC, and a growing number of students and recent graduates are joining as Future Thinkers. Current areas of work: Collaboration, advocacy and education for green buildings. Authentication schemes for healthy and sustainable buildings, including Homestar and Green Star. www.nzgbc.org.nz The Aotearoa Circle The Aotearoa Circle To reverse the decline of New Zealand’s natural resources, providing sustainable prosperity for all. The Aotearoa Circle brings together leaders from the public and private sectors to investigate the state of our natural resources, and commit to priority actions to halt and reverse the decline. They amplify existing efforts and work in areas where they have identified no work is currently underway. Launched with 27 founding partners from both public and private sectors. Current areas of work: A leadership organisation where both public and private sectors partner to address systems level challenges in six domains: sustainable finance, marine, freshwater, biodiversity, climate change, and land/soil. www.theaotearoacircle.nz United Nations Sustainable Development Goals United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Bringing together the three dimensions of sustainable development: economic, social and environmental. New Zealand signed up to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in 2015. Collectively, government, business and civil society contribute to achieving the goals through domestic action and international leadership on global issues. New Zealand also contributes internationally through the New Zealand Aid Programme managed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Government agencies, NGOs, and the private sector. Current areas of work: New Zealand’s first progress report on the SDGs, co-ordinated by MFAT, will be presented to the UN in July 2019. www.mfat.govt.nz/sdgs Sustainable Business Network Sustainable Business Network Always connect. Always inspire. Build unstoppable momentum to restore Aotearoa. The Sustainable Business Network is New Zealand’s largest sustainable business organisation, founded in 2002. We connect organisations, enabling them to collaborate on solutions. We inspire our members to succeed through events and sharing stories. And we help business act through projects, campaigns and expert advice. We run more than 100 events a year, including the NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards. Almost 600 small and medium-sized businesses, corporates, social entrepreneurs and government agencies. The Environmental Defence Society is a not-for-profit environmental organisation comprised of resource management professionals.EDS brings together the disciplines of science, planning, landscape and the law.
