Toll New Zealand

Toll

Toll is a global leading provider in the logistics, transport & freight sector, committed to delivering best in class, sustainable, supply chain solutions.

We operate on a global scale with logistics solutions integrating road, rail, sea and air, enabled by our passionate people and our extensive NZ network of over 30 warehouses and hubs throughout the nation, over half of which are linked to rail. Our purpose is to move the businesses that move the world, enabling New Zealand, Aotearoa to flourish, and that is exactly what we do.  As a team, we are committed to a greener future. Our team is looking for ways to be innovative through collaboration to exchange for a more sustainable future for our business, customers and New Zealand. Toll commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and scope 2 emissions 50.4% by 2030 from a 2018 base year

Our Current Commitment:

Recent $185 million investment in two newly opened state of the art freight facilities located in Wellington and Auckland. Both sites include Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) to deliver reductions in the company’s environmental footprint. These include LED lighting, translucent roof sheeting to minimise light usage throughout the day, adaptable lighting and mechanical controls to help drive down energy use. Both sites have been selected and designed to ensure easy access to the rail network, with trains able to dock within the Auckland terminal, building on Toll’s commitment to providing customers low carbon modes of transport to move their freight across New Zealand.

Since 2015, we have seen a strong year on year emission reduction; minimising our tC02 per 1000m3 of freight from 24.47 in 2015/16 to 16.62 in 2018/19. This reduction results from several key contributing factors, including the introduction of vehicles with a higher maximum length and weight allowance; fleet conversions to Euro5 and Euro6 standards and a fleet upgrade for their Parcels division and company cars.

Our 2021 Targets:

  • Upgrading our Telematics System to EROAD, enabling superior monitoring and support for our drivers.
  • GEN-2 Biofuels pilot project with industry partners and customers.
  • Launch of electric fleet vehicles within the Auckland CBD.
  • Implementation of Working from Home Policy.

Toll Group Environmental Policy

“At Toll, we are mobilising around the targets we have ahead of us, as we support the Sustainable Business Council’s ambitious objective of halving emissions from the domestic freight industry by 2030 and reaching net-zero emissions by 2050. Of course, this is a challenge, but it is a challenge we feel passionate about and want to tackle headfirst.” – Jon Adam, Executive General Manager, Toll New Zealand
