Kia Kaha te Reo Māori
We are blown away by how many members are embracing Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, 10-16 Mahuru. Spark and Te Aka have launched Kupu, a fun app that gives you Te Reo Māori translations based on what's in a picture. Stuff is exploring how te reo Māori makes us unique. And the Toyota Kiwi Guardian scheme to connect kids with the outdoors has added five new sites, with bilingual maps. Check out #TeWikioTeReoMāori on Twitter for more news.  
SBC members do well in Energy Awards 
Congratulations to the winners and finalists in the recent Deloitte Energy Excellence Awards. Of our members, Vector (pictured) won the Health and Safety category for the OnGas Bottle Swap plant in Papakura and Rebecca Wilson from TranspowerNZ was named the Young Energy Professional. 
A fishing show with a difference 
Sanford talked to the NBR last week about their responsibility to help fix plastics pollution in the oceans, and they also teamed up with the Office of the Children's Commissioner to ask young people what they think about sustainability in this Facebook video.  
ETS Consultation: Useful background 
If you are planning to make a submission on the proposed improvements to the NZ Emissions Trading Scheme, MfE have provided extra background in recent presentations (see Meeting slides tab). Submissions close 21 Sept. 
International cooperation and the SDGs
What are the most critical sustainable development challenges that New Zealand should be responding to on the international stage? The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade is reviewing New Zealand’s policy on aid and sustainable development. Submissions close 30 Sept. 
New member profile: New Zealand Ecolabelling Trust 
The Trust administers the Government-owned Environmental Choice New Zealand label, which identifies products and services that meet stringent, best-practice environmental criteria across their whole life-cycle. The Trust supports increased uptake of sustainable procurement practices.
Sustainability reporting rolls on
The OCS New Zealand Sustainability Review shows they have reduced fleet greenhouse gas emissions by 5%.
Vector's
Annual Report looks at value creation through an integrated reporting lens.
And Vodafone's
Sustainable Business Report uses the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G4 framework.
