Interim Climate Change Commission named
Climate Change Minister James Shaw has announced the membership of the Interim Climate Change Commission, which will begin work on how NZ transitions to a net zero emissions economy by 2050. Several of the committee members have a strong business background. Read more.

WBCSD's top issues to tackle
SBC's executive director Abbie Reynolds is in Switzerland at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development's (WBCSD) liaison delegate meeting. She's filed this Vlog, saying the WBCSD is tackling many of the issues we are: Climate change, the future of work and sustainable lifestyles. More Vlogs to come.
New reports on climate finance and land use
A government-commissioned report has for the first time looked at climate finance in NZ. It examines existing climate finance flows and instruments available to the private sector and Government, like grants, debt and bonds. A second report released by Stats NZ and MfE, has found we're damaging and losing our soils, native plants and animals. 
Draft Productivity Commission report due
The Productivity Commission have announced they’re releasing their draft report on the transition to a low emissions economy next week on Friday 27th. SBC will review it and get in touch with members to let them know how we will respond. You can read the submission we made last year here.
ESP helps energy users save big 
Did you know Energy Solution Providers (ESP) has helped organisations and individuals in NZ save 139,588,461 kWh in energy use since 2001? In dollar terms, that's the equivalent of a $25 million energy bill, or 18,000 houses being taken off the grid! Learn more here

A reminder that applications for SBC's 2018 professional development programme, Sustainable leadership in a changing world, close on April 27th. This year the programme aims to give participants new skills and thinking that will help them navigate complex environmental and social issues, like climate change. Find out more here.
Sustainable Development Goals summit  
The inaugural Sustainable Development Goals Summit kicks off in Wellington on Monday next week. Vector will be talking about its work that aligns with the goals. CEO Simon Mackenzie says the company has joined leading businesses around the world making a commitment to the goals because, "Vector is putting sustainability at the centre of the new energy future it is pioneering". 
New tech boosting traceability
Silver Fern Farms is investing in new technology and packaging that lets customers trace its premium retail products back to the farm. Chief executive Dean Hamilton says, “We want to deliver transparency in the food chain for our consumers, who are increasingly interested in knowing where their food has come from". 
Sustainability in public works conference
Hear from some of NZ's leaders in sustainability, including AECOM, Auckland City Council and Downer, at the Sustainability in public works conference in May. The Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia is organising the event, which is themed ‘Resilience for our Communities’.
