Eco-farm looks for sustainable solutions 
In this week's Sunday Star-Times article based on a UN Sustainable Development Goal, the science and innovation employed by Sanford to reduce its waste and use of plastic takes centre stage. The company's Pelorous Sound eco-farm is replacing old ropes used for mussel ties, with plant-based materials that biodegrade in compost. 
Spark's Pride campaign hits headlines 
Spark's Auckland Pride Festival campaign, promoting a new partnership with LGBT counselling service OUTline, drew the ire of some social media users last week. The video showed a gay couple raising a baby, but it was the company's response to the criticism that stole the headlines. OZ solar power boom could double capacity 
Across the ditch, industry analysts are suggesting Australia's solar power capacity could nearly double in a year, with an unprecedented number of industrial solar farms being approved. Read more here.
New OnGas plant hires local
Vector has opened its new OnGas liquid gas plant in Papakura, Auckland. The site serves around 65 per cent of the New Zealand market for barbecue gas bottles and is focused on good health and well-being. Its 30 staff were employed from the local community and are paid a living wage. They are also provided with breakfast and lunch everyday. Read more here.
NZ’s first solar e-bike rechargery 
Electric bikers in Auckland have a new hangout spot downtown, where they, and their bikes, can recharge with clean energy and a caffeine hit. Big Street Bikers have teamed up with Mercury to create our first ever public solar-powered electric bike recharging station. Learn more here.
SBC welcomes Ravensdown
Ravensdown has joined the Sustainable Business Council. The farmer-owned co-operative provides nutrients and advice to the food sector, so farmers can reduce their environmental impact and optimise value from the land. Learn more here.
