New Climate Leaders Coalition case studies
How do you cut the carbon footprint of your products after they have left the factory? in this thinkstep-anz case study, Asaleo Care discovered that consumer behaviour could make the biggest difference. And OCS has recently been awarded Carbonreduce certification by Toitū Envirocare – the first large company in the cleaning and facilities management sector to gain this endorsement.
WBCSD at COP25 
SBC is the NZ Global Network Partner of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development in Geneva. WBCSD is at COP25 in Madrid this week, asking governments for four key actions on climate change. And Peter Bakker calls for all businesses to raise their ambition. 
Businesses collaborate on battery challenge
Over 80 businesses have joined forces to tackle the end-of-life issue for lithium-ion batteries. Vector has launched the Battery Industry Group (B.I.G), a cross-industry collaboration that will design reuse and recycling solutions for large batteries, commonly found in electric vehicles or in stationary energy storage.
Carbon calculator for buildings
Naylor Love has developed a calculator that quantifies the amount of carbon in building structures using different materials. Based on a thinkstep-anz report commissioned by Naylor Love, the research project modelled a typical six-storey commercial building constructed two ways – engineered timber versus conventional concrete and steel.
Malcolm Plates up for a Purpose
In February 2020, Malcolm Johns, CEO of Christchurch Airport, will get into the kitchen to raise funds for the City Mission’s Back to School programme, to help children in Christchurch with school uniforms and shoes, stationery, and other basics. The ‘Bayleys Plate Up For A Purpose’ fundraiser aims to crowdfund $200,000 to help give every child a good start to 2020.
