Outcomes of COP25
While COP25 did not see progress on carbon markets, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development 
gives a business perspective on what's needed to fulfill a vision of net-zero emissions by 2050. David Benattar notes his key observations, and watch the final update from Mark Baker-Jones. 
Blue skies thinking needed for tourism emissions
The Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment has just released a report on the environmental impact of tourism. As part of the report, thinkstep-anz has forecast the carbon footprint of the sector to 2050, the first time this has been done for New Zealand. 
What's new from Government on climate 
As the year draws to a close, we have: New Commissioners named for the Climate Change Commission, now officially up and running; progress on New Zealand's international climate commitments; and consultation on proposed changes to the ETS as well as boosting renewable energy and energy efficiency
SDGs update 
WBCSD have published their last SDG update for 2019, looking at key developments over the last 12 months. And the People’s Report on the Sustainable Development Goals has been updated following the UN SDG Summit in July this year. 
More rural recycling solutions needed 
Rural recycling jumped up to 43% from last year, but following the PMCSA report on Rethinking Plastics, Agrecovery says there is an urgent need for local recycling solutions to generate greater recycling rates for a wider selection of rural plastics.
Kiwi Guardians reach milestone 
The Toyota Kiwi Guardians scheme, which aims to get Kiwi kids active and interested in the outdoors in partnership with DOC, has awarded its 50,000th medal since its launch in 2016.
