Launching Sustainability Radio
In the first episode of our sustainable business podcast, we hear from Abbie Reynolds as she packs her bags for New York and the United Nations, we chat to Oxygen Consulting and Enviro-Mark Solutions after the recent Climate Reality Leadership training in Brisbane, and we talk to La Nuova Apparelmaster about what they are trialling to reduce their environmental impact. And we want your suggestions for our naming competition. 
10 years of Better Futures
This week, Sarah Bolger, Head of Colmar Brunton, talks about what has changed in consumer attitudes to sustainability over the 10 years that they have been conducting the Better Futures survey, and what businesses can learn from these changes.
Lower emissions for vehicles in view
Climate Leaders Coalition members have shown their support for the Government consultation on initiatives to reduce vehicle emissions, including ToyotaWestpac, Z Energy, Vector and Meridian. Transpower have released a new report on distributed battery energy storage systems, and DB Breweries have announced a plan to halve carbon emissions by 2030.

Responsible investment on the rise  
Responsible investment now represents 72 percent of New Zealand’s total $261.4 billion assets under management, according to the Responsible Investment Benchmark Report New Zealand for 2019, by KPMG and the Responsible Investment Association of Australasia (RIAA). The research found that the main driver for responsible investment was improved performance.  
Protecting the health of the Waikato River  
Oji Fibre Solutions will be investing more than $100 million over 4 years in its wastewater systems at the Kinleith Mill, in Tokoroa, to support their goal of reducing environmental impact. The existing aerated ponds will be replaced with a modern treatment plant, with tertiary treatment, significantly reducing discharges. Oji is calling for community feedback
Rural recycling project goes nationwide
Following two pilot projects in Matamata and Geraldine, the Ministry for the Environment is funding Agrecovery to provide six more recycling events to be held in late August and September 2019. Farmers and growers will be able to clear a variety of waste all at the same time, in Westport, Southland, Rolleston and Gisborne as well as Matamata and Geraldine.

Fairtrade is about empowering farmers and workers in developing countries to get a better deal through fairer prices, decent working conditions and favourable terms of trade. Convergence for a carbon transition 2020 - 2030
