International Women's Day
So encouraging to see our members enthusiastically supporting International Women's Day on 8 March, with AECOM, Beca and Meridian Energy, among others, talking about #BalanceforBetter and EY talking #SheBelongs in technology, business and finance. UN Sustainable Development Goal #5 is Gender Equality so it could be a good opportunity to mention the SDGs. 
In the pipeline
Iplex, a Fletcher Building business, is using recycled plastic bottles to make a land drainage pipe commonly used on farms. Iplex had been looking for ways to integrate recycled material into its manufacturing and using recycled material in this product alone has the potential to use over four million plastic bottles per year.
Coming soon - Environment Aotearoa 2019
On 18 April, the Ministry for the Environment and Stats NZ will release Environment Aotearoa 2019, a comprehensive report looking at the state of our environment. Businesses can register to receive a digital copy of the report when it’s released. See the full list of indicators
Watch CDP on demand
In case you couldn't make it to the launch last week of the CDP Australia New Zealand Report 2018 surveying corporate disclosure, Enviro-Mark Solutions have kindly provided a link to the webcast. Mercury were on the panel, and the highlight was Vector becoming the first NZ organisation to receive an award from CDP for ‘Best first-time performance’. 
Ecoman on air
Our very own Ecoman, Malcolm Rands is talking to Jack Tame on Newstalk ZB every Saturday morning about environmental issues. Recent episodes include the impact of clothing, food scraps and composting, and what goes into the perfect lunchbox
Partnership for better shipping
In the spirit of SDG #17: Partnership, and making transport more efficient, Oji Fibre Solutions and Netlogix have launched Bearing 360 to manage shipping for their customers by levelling the cargo flows to improve the predictability of ship uplifts. Bearing 360’s medium to long term forecasting enables ship planners to maximise vessel uplift and reduce waste in the supply chain. 
Climate change adaptation event for business
Adaptation is an important part of our collective climate change response, and IAG are hosting an event in Auckland on April 11 to explore the practical issues and actions businesses need to consider. Speakers include the Minister for Climate Change as well as Westpac NZ and other leading businesses.
