Zero Carbon Bill
Following the announcement of the Climate Change Response (Zero Carbon) Amendment Bill, members of the Climate Leaders Coalition have been vocal in their support in media and on social media. And James Walker, from Porter Novelli's new sustainability practice, looks at the opportunities for business. The Minister for Climate Change is holding workshops on the Bill next week, see events section for details. 
Tidy Kiwis are becoming more considerate
Nearly three-quarters of New Zealanders say that environmentally friendly packaging influences their purchase decisions. Jessica Del Rosario, Account Director, Colmar Brunton talks about their new research into consumer views
SBC's 20th anniversary 
May 1999 marks 20 years since the New Zealand Business Council for Sustainable Development was founded, the forerunner of SBC. We have a new-look banner for Pānui featuring our members, along with the History of SBC page on our website. Watch out for 20th anniversary content over the next few months and opportunities to get involved. 
Celebrating young entrepreneurs
Entries are now open for the Unilever Young Entrepreneurs Awards. In partnership with the University of Cambridge, the awards support and celebrate people aged 35 and under from all over the world with existing initiatives, products or services that are tackling some of the planet’s biggest sustainability challenges. 
Finance for the Future
Entries are also open for the Finance for the Future Awards, supported by Deloitte and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. The initiative supports integrated thinking in companies and is run by one of Prince Charles’s charities, Accounting for Sustainability (A4S). Entries close 31 May. 
Big change through social procurement
SBC members including Air New Zealand, Auckland Council, Auckland Transport, Fonterra, New Zealand Post, and Waikato Regional Council have signed on as founding members of the country’s first social procurement buyer group established by the Ākina Foundation as part of the Fwd: social procurement programme.
2019 Fonterra Dairy Woman of the Year 
Trish Rankin has been recognised as the 2019 Fonterra Dairy Woman of the YearTrish is a NZ Climate Change Ambassador and a Dairy Enviro Leader. Watch the video about her work
A day at the Zoo
All the staff at BusinessNZ, including SBC, the Business Energy Council, Buy NZ Made, ExportNZ and the Major Companies Group spent Tuesday at Wellington Zoo for a team-building day helping out behind the scenes. Wellington Zoo are sustainability leaders in the sector, and it was great to see their practices first-hand.  
World Fairtrade Day
