How your staff could help tackle climate change
Want to accelerate action on climate change? Talk to your staff - they might just prove the tipping point. SBC is helping its members (who collectively employ 158,000 people) start talking climate action with staff. SBC's Climate Programme Manager Kate Alcock explains how.
Kids grow pumpkins and digital technology skills
The Spark Foundation have announced a partnership with Electric Garden, to help bring its digital technology learning tool to under-served schools and communities across Aotearoa. The tool helps students grow a vegetable patch and learn vital skills like programming and networking, using an Internet of Things sensor.
Business for Biodiversity
Unilever and L'Oreal joined 17 other leading companies to launch “One Planet Business for Biodiversity” (OP2B) - a business-led, agriculture-centric coalition - at the UN Climate Summit last week. The companies have committed to take tangible actions, on an individual and collective basis, to develop innovative solutions aimed at protecting and enhancing biodiversity in agricultural systems.
Reporting Round Up
Genesis have released their first Sustainability Report following their announcement they will no longer use coal to generate electricity from 2025. And Lyttelton Port Company have finalised their sustainability strategy and set firm commitments and targets, in their Annual Report out this week.  
New Construction Procurement Guidelines 
Government departments must now consider factors including skills development and training undertaken by construction companies and their subcontractors, whether there is strong governance over the project and sustainable building practices such as using sustainable materials and minimising waste, in new wide-ranging government procurement rules. This can help reduce emissions in the sector as signalled in this report from thinkstep ANZ. 
Future of Work: Member case studies
We have commissioned a series of case studies on how members are tackling the Future of Work. This week, we look at how NZ Post has done open-heart surgery on its business – moving it from a mail-centric business that also manages parcels to a parcel-centric business that also manages mail.
