Soft plastics: The sequel
No matter how much we try to reduce our plastics use, it's hard to eliminate them entirely. But the good news is that the soft plastics recycling scheme is back to turn them into fenceposts - and there are bins at Countdowns and Warehouse Red Sheds in Auckland, Hamilton and Wellington. Find one near you.  
What's new in sustainability reporting 
WBCSD has published its 2019 Reporting Matters report on global reporting trends and best practice. Top findings include that 95% of reviewed reports mention the Sustainable Development Goals, and more than one third of the reports combine financial and non-financial information. SBC’s member review project, and use of the Reporting Matters criteria, features on page 52.

Enter the Australasian Reporting Awards 
Keen to benchmark your report against world best practice and your peers? Entries for the Australasian Reporting Awards are now open. Entering will give you an independent assessment of how well your annual report meets the information needs of your stakeholders. Last year Sanford took out the Supreme Award. Entries close 6 December.  
How will we assess climate change risk? 
New Zealand needs to be better prepared to adapt to the effects of climate change. A framework for assessing risks has been developed by a panel of experts for the Ministry for the Environment. The next step is to use the framework to carry out New Zealand’s first National Climate Change Risk Assessment.
