Future of Work: Member case studies
We have commissioned a series of case studies on how members are tackling the Future of Work. This week, Auckland Airport estimates that 27,000 jobs will be up for grabs in and around the airport over the next 30 years. To make sure they’ve got a workforce for the future, they developed a local skills and training hub to tap into the community on its doorstep.

Sustainability Leadership in a Changing World

Overseas investors want more sustainability info
Wright Communications and NZX have launched a new report looking at ESG reporting uptake of New Zealand’s 50 largest listed companies. The report finds that NZ companies with a high exposure to offshore investors and customers are moving to disclose and discuss their approach to sustainability and how they are managing ESG risks – and opportunities.
Speaking of sustainability reports...
Air New Zealand has released its latest sustainability report, which outlines the airline’s progress against its sustainability goals over the past year. And Oji Fibre Solutions has released its latest sustainability report detailing its value in the circular economy and how it is optimising operations for a more sustainable future.
Thinking about installing EV chargers?
New Zealand Post has been piloting electric vans and cars and putting in place the charging infrastructure needed, with support from EECA. They have published a quick guide to help businesses understand some of the cost and complexity of installing EV chargers on site and help more businesses place EVs into their own fleets. 
Setting more ambitious targets
Congratulations to thinkstep ANZ and Contact Energy for resetting their science-based targets this week to be even more ambitious, to reduce their Scope 1 & 2 emissions in line with 1.5° of warming, or significantly below 2°. Since 2012 Contact has reduced its emissions from power generation (Scope 1) by almost 60% through closing thermal gas-fired plants, and building new renewable low-carbon generation.
Have your say on responsible investment products
The Financial Markets Authority is seeking feedback on how green bonds and other responsible investment products should be described, labelled and promoted to investors.
Call for evidence on reducing emissions
And the Interim Climate Change Committee is looking for high-quality, credible evidence that will support the proposed Commission’s work on emissions budgets. This is likely to include knowledge and evidence of technologies and options to reduce emissions, and their economic, environmental, cultural and social impacts. 
Activate SDG #16
Councils around the country are encouraging people to vote in the local elections to make sure that elected members truly represent their communities. Auckland Council have launched an initiative to increase voter participation - companies can sign up to Vote Friday, but this could be applied up and down the country. Generation Zero and the Common Climate Network have published scorecards ranking candidates on their climate change policies in different regions.  
Are you joining Generation Less?
The spotlight is on climate action this week, with numerous businesses supporting the climate strike this Friday with the Not Business As Usual pledge, and EECA launching the Generation Less campaign to which a number of members have signed up. And the Prime Minister has unveiled a climate change and trade initiative at the United Nations.
