Public support for green Covid-19 recovery 
A majority of New Zealanders support clean and green Covid-19 economy recovery policies, and say that industries such as the airlines, electric utility, and agriculture sector that receive emergency government funding should be required to reduce their carbon and water pollution, finds a recent survey from Massey University. In this guest blog, Dr Jagadish Thaker looks at what the survey results mean for business.

Government backs hydrogen fuelling network
The Infrastructure Reference Group has provisionally approved $20 million for Hiringa Energy to establish New Zealand’s first nationwide network of hydrogen fuelling stations, with eight stations initially planned to provide refuelling for zero emissions heavy FCEVs (hydrogen-powered fuel cell electric vehicles) such as trucks and buses.

Māori philosophy – thinking about Antarctica 
A group of Massey University researchers is looking at how Te Ao Māori extends beyond the shores of Aotearoa to snowy white polar extremes. Māori philosopher and Associate Professor Krushil Watene has thought deeply about Antarctica and how indigenous knowledge could offer new ways to think about our relationship and responsibilities to the polar environment and nature in general.
A big week for waste
Ecostore unveils its Permanent Bottle Recall campaign, to take responsibility for the thousands of bottles it sells every year and keep them from overburdening the recycling system. And the Government is consulting on two proposals to reduce unrecyclable and single-use plastics.
