New board members elected
We are very pleased to welcome five new members to the SBC Advisory Board: Alice Andrew, 4Sight; Marc England, Genesis; Wayne McNee, LIC; Peter Simons, DB Breweries and Carol Ward, Zespri. Thank you to everyone who put themselves forward, and also to our outgoing members Alistair Davis, Toyota (former Chair of SBC), Karen Fifield, Wellington Zoo, Kate Jorgensen, formerly at Vodafone, Simon Mackenzie, Vector, and Mike Sang, Ngāi Tahu. 
The leadership role of CFOs in sustainability
On Wednesday we held another of our pilot workshops for CFOs on sustainability with Deloitte. We looked at reporting frameworks, particularly focusing on integrated reporting and TCFDs as tools for managing sustainability risks and opportunities. We will be repeating this workshop again in September. If your CFO would like to be involved please get in touch

Our former Executive Director and Woman of Influence Abbie Reynolds has been appointed the new CEO of Predator Free 2050, building on her long-standing love of biodiversity and New Zealand's birds. Possums, stoats and rats would be quaking in their boots, if they had any!   
Mike Bennetts first up on One Hot Minute 
As part of The Forever Project, Stuff has launched a video series and podcast talking to New Zealanders with big ideas about climate change. So to get the ball rolling, naturally Climate Change Editor Eloise Gibson sits down with Climate Leaders Coalition convenor and CEO of Z Energy Mike Bennetts.   
New capability for farm carbon footprint 
Farmers can now calculate their carbon footprint through the OverseerFM® farm nutrient management planning software to access Toitū Envirocare’s carbon certification programmes, and then make a carbon reduction plan using Toitū’s farm emanage software tool. You heard it here first!   
New Zealand's largest solar array now complete 
Vector Powersmart has now completed the build of a 1MW floating solar installation on top of Watercare’s Rosedale wastewater treatment pond. The system contains more than 2700 solar panels and 3000 floating pontoons and will provide about 25% of the total energy needed at the plant. 
Westpac supports green finance for Meridian
Meridian Energy has launched its Green Finance Programme, aligned with global sustainable finance standards for green bonds and green loans, and implemented with the assistance of Westpac NZ’s Sustainable Finance Team.
Green bonds for Turitea
In the same week, Mercury has announced it is offering green bonds with the support of ANZ, to finance and refinance projects in accordance with Mercury’s Green Financing Framework, such as building the Turitea wind farm.
Parking your e-bike now easier
The latest projects funded by the Low Emissions Vehicles Contestable Fund include installing secure e-bike storage facilities, accounting for 5 of the 24 projects awarded co-funding.
Timber EPDs continue to lead green building 
Another win is in sight in the transition to a green construction sector with Abodo Wood’s latest Environmental Product Declaration produced by thinkstep-anz for Vulcan timber products- a step in the right direction to enable Life Cycle Assessments for whole buildings.

Meridian Energy has just launched its integrated Annual Report, in an interactive format, with a strong focus on climate action, as well as caring for staff, partners and communities.

Starting with pōhutukawa in 1990, and later the northern and southern rātā, Project Crimson now works to restore all native tree species through their programme, Trees That Count. Native trees need our attention now more than ever, and Trees That Count runs the country’s only tree marketplace which enables people to fund or gift native trees online.
