Good Life 2.0 Playbook relaunched
The Good Life 2.0 Playbook demonstrates that New Zealanders are increasingly aspiring to lifestyles that are about living smarter, cleaner and better. This refreshed version focuses on the moments that matter to New Zealanders and how businesses can be part of this vision of what a ‘good life’ looks like. Pellet power in Te Awamutu 
Fonterra has announced that its Te Awamutu milk processing site will be coal free from the start of the 2020/2021 season, saving about 84,000 tonnes of carbon emissions every year. The boiler will be powered with wood pellets thanks to funding from EECA’s technology demonstration programme.
Consistent reporting of sustainable value?
The International Business Council has published proposals to standardise the non-financial reporting from business, by selecting 22 ESG indicators. Peter Bakker at WBCSD writes, "this standardization of ESGs, linked to the push to set science-based targets and make TCFD mandatory for business will create the triangle to fix capitalism and ultimately make sustainable business more sustainable."
NZ businesses contribute to SDGs benchmarking
At Davos last week, the World Benchmarking Alliance launched a programme to track 2,000 influential companies’ contributions to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, including Air New Zealand, Fletcher Building, Fonterra, Spark and Zespri. And the Carbon Disclosure Project's annual climate change A List includes Fujitsu, L'Oreal, Toyota, Waste Management and Unilever.
