The leadership role of CFOs in sustainability
This week, we held another of our pilot workshops for CFOs on sustainability with Deloitte. We looked at the science of climate change and the role of the CFO in responding as the custodians of value creation. Our next workshops focus on reporting and performance management. Reducing emissions in your value chain
NZ Post has announced its Electric Vehicle (EV) Incentive Programme to increase the number of electric vehicles in its delivery fleet. It has developed a series of educational videos for contractors on the benefits of EVs, and is also using its decarbonisation fund to contribute to the upfront purchase price. 
Collaborating for carbon neutral milk
New Zealand’s first carbonzero milk, Simply Milk, has hit supermarket shelves this week, the result of a collaboration between Fonterra, Toitū Envirocare and Foodstuffs North Island. The milk is certified carbonzero through the purchase of carbon credits from Toitū Envirocare, to offset the carbon emissions of making Simply Milk. 
OCS achieves carbonreduce certification 
OCS is New Zealand’s largest facilities management services company and is the first major company in its industry to achieve Toitū Envirocare carbonreduce certification. Read more in the company’s recently released sustainability report. Mike Burrell welcomed the OCS report as a positive example of sustainable business being synonymous with business success.

Sustainability Leadership Programme wraps

Covid-19 delays climate package 
The Climate Change Commission will now deliver its first package of work to the Minister for Climate Change on 31 May 2021, rather than 1 February. This includes advising on emissions budgets, the emissions reduction plan, biogenic methane emissions and Aotearoa’s Nationally Determined Contribution. The Commission's engagement programme has started and will run until it goes out for formal consultation in January 2021.  
Speaker line-up for Annual Council Meeting 
In Mike's update this week, he unveils the star-studded list of speakers for our SBC Annual Council Meeting and Strategy launch on 19 August, combined with a Climate Leaders Coalition business breakfast. We hope to see you there.    
SBC Advisory Board elections
Several Council Members have put forward a nomination for one of five positions on the SBC Advisory Board and voting details will be sent to Council Members shortly. Voting will run 20 July-4 August, and the results will be announced at our Annual Council Meeting on 19 August. Thank you to everyone who has expressed their interest.
