Lessons from our members
Every two years we review how our members are progressing against their SBC Member Commitments and putting sustainability into practice. We have now published a summary of the broad trends we’re seeing in reporting and best practice examples of how our members are embedding sustainability in their day-to-day business.

How did you mark World Environment Day? 
The World Business Council for Sustainable Development released its new climate action roadmap to help companies reach net-zero carbon emissions before 2050. thinkstep-anz became the first company in New Zealand to commit to Business Ambition for 1.5° announced by the Science Based Targets initiative. And Meridian celebrated those firms using certified renewable energy, including F&P Healthcare. 
Speaking out in support of TCFD
Climate-related financial disclosure will encourage more sustainable investing and give rise to a more resilient financial market, says Louise Tong, BNZ's general manager of sustainable finance in a Stuff opinion piece.
First construction and demolition waste ecolabel
Taggart Earthmoving has become the first construction and demolition (C&D) waste service in New Zealand to achieve certification from NZ's official ecolabel Environmental Choice New Zealand (ECNZ). The specification for EC-59 C&D Waste Services was developed to improve environmental performance within the industry and encourage a circular economy approach to C&D waste.
NZ Garden Bird Survey
The New Zealand Garden Bird Survey is an annual citizen science project organised by Manaaki Whenua –Landcare Research between June 27 and July 5. We can all help by counting the birds we see in our backyards. Find out more and get involved.
