SBC and BEC welcome port investment
Along with the BusinessNZ Energy Council, we welcome the news that New Zealand Green Investment Finance will provide $15 million to electrify vehicles, generate renewable energy and upgrade energy efficiency at Wellington's port. CentrePort joins SBC and Climate Leaders Coalition members Ports of Auckland, Port Marlborough, Port Nelson and Lyttelton Port Company who are already doing great work in this space.  
Communications expertise recognised
Congratulations to Wright Communications, named 2020 PR Consultancy of the Year by the Public Relations Institute of New Zealand (PRINZ), and also awarded for their work on a kiwifruit industry project. Also recognised for specific projects were Vodafone NZ, Auckland Transport, Plant and Food Research, Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Whai Rawa, BNZ, Porter Novelli, and EECA for Gen Less. 
Lowering the environmental hoofprint of dairy 
Livestock Improvement Corp are offering cows that generate less methane and nitrogen for sale to farmers this year, and a pilot trial is underway looking for a link between the methane cows produce and their genetics in the Waikato. Meanwhile, the carbon footprint of New Zealand’s on-farm milk supply is already less than one-third of the global average.

The latest sustainability news from The Warehouse Group looks at how digital-first can help young people as well as the business, as well as a new Healthy Homes campaign, and cleaning up Auckland's West Coast beaches with Sustainable Coastlines.  
Concrete industry on track for climate targets
The concrete industry is halfway towards meeting its target of a 30% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by 2030, says Concrete NZ. Based on a recent study by thinkstep-anz, they are well placed to meet the New Zealand’s climate change commitments under the Paris Agreement.

What impact will Covid-19 have on the SDGs? 
In the latest WBCSD SDG Briefing, the United Nations urged everyone to dramatically increase pace and scale in their efforts to implement and deliver the SDGs as the COVID-19 pandemic exacerbates core challenges that the SDGs aim to solve including inequality, access to sanitation and decent employment.

Essential viewing on diversity and inclusion
Diversity Works have made a series of highly relevant roundtable discussions available for free on their website. Topics include the future of workplace flexibility, having brave conversations about cultural stigmatisation and respectful behaviour, and diversity as competitive advantage to navigating the new normal.

Strategy refresh update
We have now sent our draft strategy for 2020-2025 to Liaison Delegates and Council Members for feedback by 12 noon Tuesday 23 June. The strategy reflects what we heard from you, including the need to continue to challenge members to be at the forefront of sustainability. You can share your views at our interactive workshops (19 /22 June) or via email
SBC Advisory Board elections
It's SBC election time! We are calling for nominations from Council Members for CEOs or other senior executives for one of five positions on the SBC Advisory Board, by 10 July. Voting by Council Members will run 20 July-4 August, and the results will be announced at SBC's Annual Council Meeting on 19 August. Please keep an eye on your inbox for further details.
