The hunting of the frog
Conservation Volunteers New Zealand, Mondelēz New Zealand and Auckland Council are working on a large predator control program in the Waitakere Ranges to protect the habitat of the endangered Hochstetter’s frog. The Mondelēz NZ team, and Pravin Sawmy, recently went out into the Waitakeres to visit the little creature they are working to protect. Watch the video
Strong voice for SBC at CCBC
Today Mike Burrell was on the closing panel of the Climate Change and Business Conference, talking about our three top recommendations for climate action, and how the goalposts are moving for business leadership on climate. And yesterday's plenary on The Corporate Climate Change Challenge was 100% SBC members, from Genesis, IAG, NZ Post, The Warehouse Group and Z Energy.

And recently, he caught up with Andrew Petersen, CEO of BCSD Australia to chat about the significance of the NZ election outcome to future policy development, the sustainable development agenda and what they mean for business in New Zealand and Australia. Making insurance more accessible
Vero Insurance and Good Shepherd NZ have teamed up to trial a low-cost comprehensive car insurance cover for New Zealanders on limited incomes. This initiative aims to improve financial security for Kiwis who may otherwise be excluded from the car insurance market.
Boost for decarbonising process heat 
The Government has launched a $70m fund to help businesses switch from fossil fuels, such as coal and gas, to clean energy for process heat. Applications are now open for the Government Investment in Decarbonising Industry fund, managed by EECA, that will allow business and industries to access financial support to switch away from boilers run on coal and gas, to cleaner electricity and biomass options.
Reducing private vehicle use better for cities
The latest report from WSP and the Helen Clark Foundation looks at how low-traffic areas in Aotearoa’s cities can decarbonise transport, save lives, and create the connected urban communities we need in a post-pandemic future.
Reporting corner 
Fujitsu Oceania has released its Responsible Business Report to 31 March 2020, looking at its activities to implement the Sustainable Development Goals. And Sanford has published its integrated Annual Report, looking at how to navigate delivering business and sustainability outcomes during the Covid pandemic.

PHI International provides helicopter transportation for industries and services operating in remote places, and wants to be a responsible partner in the industry as well as actively participate in the eventual transition from oil and gas to renewable energy sources.
