Getting to Carbon Positive: Podcast series
In May, Beca published 'Decarbonising a Prosperous New Zealand' which looked at eight key transitions that would best enable New Zealand to rapidly shift to a low carbon economy. Over the past 11 weeks, the Getting to Carbon Positive podcast addresses some of the social, cultural, environmental, and economic challenges and opportunities, as well as contributing to the ongoing discussions about how we can get the best outcomes. 
Help us understand our collective impact
SBC is working with Ākina to better understand and articulate our impact. To do this we want to better understand the impact that we have had on you as members on your sustainability journey. Ākina will be developing some indicators to help SBC measure our own collective change that occurs due to being part of the SBC membership (rather than indicators for individual organisation reporting). Book in for a one on one 20-30 min chat on 18 September. 
What's new at SBC 
In Mike's update this week, we're progressing the Annual Council Meeting date, but in the meantime members can expect to see the new strategy shortly. He also talks about our impact framework, what we want to see from political parties on climate action, and welcomes our new board members. 
Toi Tupu fund helps financial literacy 
The Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei hapū is distributing more than $1.5 million among 3,000 members from the Toi Tupu fund. The three-year-old fund was launched to provide a financial backstop for members and also to increase the level of financial knowledge. 
Be part of a moment
This year there will be something a bit different to mark Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori. On Monday 14 September at 12pm, all New Zealanders are invited to celebrate what makes Aotearoa unique, by speaking, singing or signing something in te reo. The goal is to reach one million New Zealanders participating. How will your business mark this moment? 
Z Energy does its bit for Auckland water shortage 
Z Energy will install permanent water tanks to supply car washes at Z Glen Innes, Z Pukekohe and Z Massey North from 31 August, with plans to roll them out across all their Auckland sites in the coming months. 
Hiringa partners for zero emissions trucks
Hiringa Energy has signed an agreement with US-based HYZON Motors Inc. that secures access for Hiringa and its fleet partners to the supply of zero emission Heavy Goods Vehicles powered by zero emission hydrogen fuel cell technology. The heavy fuel cell electric vehicles are expected to hit the road in 2021.

thinkstep-anz explores how a holistic approach based on the SDGs and the Living Standards Framework can uncover the hidden benefits of local supply chains on wellbeing, drawing on a case study developed on behalf of the Sustainable Steel Council in the latest issue of NZ Manufacturer.

The World Business Council for Sustainable Development has published an issues brief examining how we can reconfigure systems to deliver outcomes that are in support of Vision 2050: more than nine billion people living well, within planetary boundaries.

New member profile: Certified Energy 
The New Zealand Energy Certificate System (NZECS), managed by Certified Energy, issues certificates for electricity currently generated in New Zealand, reflecting whether it is 100% renewable, zero carbon, or has other sustainable attributes such as locally-generated.
