Toyota backs feebate scheme
Toyota says a feebate scheme would make EVs more affordable. CEO Neeraj Lala says the countyy would not follow through on its net-zero ambitions if vehicle emissions were not slashed. Sustainable Business Council's Mike Burrell discussed the move on RNZ's The Panel earlier in the week.
Climate change + Business Conference
The Climate Change + Business Conference focused on a vision of a very different post Covid-19 world, encompassing a more equitable and greener future. The Environmental Defence Society is providing free access to the event presentations for a limited time, including Mike Burrell's presentation on Business Leading with Ambition

Insights into NZ's ESG reporting
A new report, Insights into New Zealand's ESG reporting shows almost half (48%) of NZX50 companies reported on their environmental, social and environmental activities in 2020, up from 32% last year. Meanwhile, SBC member AIA has just released its ESG report. The insurer's 25% emissions reduction target per person for 2030 was likely met in 2020 due to Covid-19. 

 
SBC members receive praise for sustainability leadership
The Warehouse Group is among the top 34% of global companies for leadership in the convenience retail category, according to Carbon Disclosure Project. Meanwhile, L'Or
éal was also recognised as a world-leader in sustainability with a triple A rating. Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, Mercury and Meridian also received an A or A- rating. 
Genesis to ditch coal and gas twice as fast
Huntly power plant owner Genesis Energy has accelerated plans to replace its fossil-fueled electricity with renewable energy. Genesis aims to cut its annual emissions by 1.2 million tonnes of CO2 by 2025.
Productivity Commission releases new report
The Productivity Commission has released its draft report on frontier firms. The report makes 22 recommendations to overhaul NZ's innovation system and make investments in infrastructure.
HRNZ Awards finalists revealed
Human Resources NZ has announced the finalists of the 2021 NZ HR Awards. SBC members BNZ, SkyCity, Fonterra and Plant & Food Research are all in the running to take home awards on March 4.
