1,000 books to say thanks
Behind every hospital’s frontline staff of doctors and nurses there are dozens of other critical workers such as cleaners and orderlies who have been essential workers during the Covid-19 pandemic. Westpac and Duffy Books have donated 1,000 children’s books to non-clinical essential workers at Middlemore Hospital who had children at home while they worked through the pandemic. 
$10M share gift for Countdown team
Countdown is awarding shares to its eligible team members, giving 14,400 Kiwis across its 183 stores and distribution centres, an ownership stake in the company. The shares are in recognition of the way the business has pulled together over the last few months to provide food for millions of Kiwis across the country, and the role team members will continue to play as they support the Covid-19 recovery. 
Helping Kiwi firms reach the productivity frontier
A key message from a report just published by the Productivity Commission is that small economies can be very successful. The report by Dr David Skilling, a Kiwi economist based in the Netherlands, looks at 13 small advanced economies to illustrate the role played by exporting firms and the types of government policies that could help these firms improve their performance.

Temperature technology
Vodafone, in partnership with Adroit, has been working to ease the way for more and larger gatherings under Level 2 and beyond. This includes introducing a fever scanner into New Zealand. Find out more from Vodafone NZ's business director Lindsay Zwart.
Milk helping in the fight against Covid-19
Fonterra farmers, factory workers, teams from the US and some of the crew at Air New Zealand have been doing their bit to help patients in the US who are suffering from Covid-19. Check out the video.
