Thriving People getting vaccinated

Members are encouraging staff to get their Covid-19 vaccinations. The Warehouse Group, along with Vodafone, spoke to RNZ about the incentives they are offering, and companies like Westpac are giving staff two half days’ leave to have their jabs.

CarbonClick allows businesses and individuals to offset the emissions they haven’t reduced first by connecting people to sustainable carbon offsetting projects. CarbonClick has made it to the finals for the Westpac Auckland Business Awards - People’s Choice category.

Race to Zero: Auckland Council 

Auckland Council has set multiple goals for the Race to Zero initiative, including  

90% of all electricity produced city-wide to be generated from renewable sources by 2025 compared to 72.7% in 2009. 

Sharing insights from EV drivers 

IAG has launched an EV Early Adopter programme, as part of its commitment to transition its entire corporate fleet to EV and hybrid vehicles. Six drivers from around New Zealand will be sharing insights from their EV experience over the next three months, to make it easier for future IAG EV drivers to adapt to the new vehicles.

Chocolate goes circular 

Mondelēz International will now source 30% per cent of the plastic needed to wrap the Cadbury Dairy Milk family block range from recycled sources, and continues to advocate for advanced recycling solutions and infrastructure in New Zealand.

NZ’s largest litter clean up 

Keep New Zealand Beautiful’s Clean Up Week 2021 will take place from 25-31 October, with free waste disposal for registered events at selected council, EnviroWaste and Waste Management transfer stations until 14 November. Get your business and staff involved by registering to hold your own event. 

Insurance workplace excellence 

Suncorp and DLA Piper are both finalists in the Excellence in Workplace Diversity and Inclusion category of the NZ Insurance Industry Awards. AA Insurance, AIA New Zealand, DLA Piper, Tower and Vero are all finalists in other categories as well.    

SBC's new Communications Manager

We are pleased to welcome Rebecca Lowe to the SBC team this week. Rebecca will lead communications for SBC and CLC, and joins us from the Commerce Commission. She is based in Wellington. 

Business action against racism

Meng Foon, New Zealand's Race Relations Commissioner, spoke to members recently about the important role of business in reducing inequality for people, business, and communities to thrive together, and how they can contribute to the national action plan shaping a racism-free Aotearoa.
