Absolutely positively climate   

Toitū has launched a new product, climate positive certification, for organisations wanting to set new ambitions in sustainability. Emma Lewisham and Ecoware are the first two New Zealand companies to embrace this new standard.

Race to Zero: thinkstep-anz

2021 Diversity Awards winners 

At the first digital only Diversity Awards NZ™, supported by CCA NZ, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise won the Leadership Award for a Medium-Large Organisation, with Downer Highly Commended, and Manatū mo te Taiao Ministry for the Environment won the Mātauranga Māori Award for a Medium-Large Organisation. Both EY and Ministry for the Environment were finalists for the Inclusive Workplace Award.

Vector/X collaborate to innovate 

Vector has formed a strategic collaboration with X, (formerly Google X) to work together on the virtualisation of the Auckland electricity grid, in an example of innovation that can help decarbonise and decentralise the electricity system.

High interest in green hydrogen

Meridian and Contact Energy’s Southern Green Hydrogen project has attracted more than 80 responses to its registration of interest process. There is a strong focus on using green hydrogen produced from renewable energy for export and also to decarbonise carbon-intensive sectors including heavy transport, aviation, shipping and agriculture in New Zealand. 
WBSCD has recently published recommendations to help policy makers enable creation of global hydrogen markets.

National Action Plan on Plastics

The Ministry for the Environment released The National Plastics Action Plan on 17 September, to help us speed up our transition to a low-carbon circular economy.

To mark International Coffee Day on 1 October, Fair Trade are spreading the love for fair trade coffee with some coffee-related giveaways.
