Insights on Sustainability Professionals

Sustainability professionals are vital members of the SBC and CLC community. In partnership with Oxygen Consulting, AUT, and SBN we will launch the results of our second survey on the role of the sustainability professional in New Zealand next week. Join us on Thursday 15 April from 12pm - 1pm to find out the latest results and trends, and hear directly from our panel of sustainability professionals, facilitated by Rod Oram.

NZ represented at US-led climate crisis conference 

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has been invited to attend the Leaders Summit on Climate on 22-23 April, a virtual global conference hosted by US President Biden. It reconvenes the US-led Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate, which brings together 17 countries responsible for about 80 percent of global emissions and global GDP. 

Community Leaders Scholarship 

Applications are now open for Catapult's 2021 Community Leaders Scholarship, offering four places on their residential leadership programme. They're looking for individuals dedicated to addressing social problems, currently working for a not-for-profit organisation. Applications close 28 May.

Fujitsu goes 100% renewable

Fujitsu New Zealand is moving to a 100% certified renewable energy product certified by NZECS, ensuring that the electricity it consumes from the national grid is matched with 100% renewable energy from Meridian Energy's generation assets. 

Open Letter against Modern Slavery

Deloitte, World Vision and Trade Aid are campaigning for the government to commence an inquiry into implementing supply chain transparency legislation. An Open Letter has been presented to Minister Wood with 95 NZ businesses already signed, and they are continuing to gather signatures for another meeting with the Minister in June. WBCSD Vision 2050 launch

The recordings from WBCSD's launch of 'Vision 2050: Time to Transform' on 25 March are available here on their Youtube page. They include an introduction to the key concepts and messaging by WBCSD President and CEO, Peter Bakker, as well as discussions around the implications and applications of this new resource with WBCSD council members.

The research findings reveal trends in job satisfaction, stress levels, remuneration, sustainability resourcing and more. Join us here for a panel Q&A with the research partners and see how the sustainability profession has changed over the past 12 months.
