Countdown's greenest store ever

Countdown has opened the doors to its new environmentally-friendly store, the first supermarket in New Zealand to be accredited by internationally recognised rating system Green Star. Located in Nelson, the store was constructed using recycled demolition waste, achieving an 86% reduction in construction waste to landfill. The Nelson store is the first to use a raft of new systems to reduce carbon emissions, making it their "greenest store ever."

Stuff's new, free email course   

Stuff has launched Now or Never, a short weekly newsletter course sharing tips and new habits that communities and households can introduce right now to cut their carbon footprints. The newsletter launch coincides with the release of the June Forever Project magazine, which explores the steps Stuff will take to collectively cut its carbon over the next five years.

IAG reveals public attitudes to climate change

Two weeks ago, IAG held the second in a series of events focused on climate change adaptation. At the event the team released the results of their fourth annual climate change opinion poll, which focused more this year on people’s expectations of businesses and the questions around who pays. Results of the survey can be found here. IAG's work was also featured in this piece in Stuff on climate adaptation.

New UK COP26 global project

The UK COP26 Presidency has announced a new international collaboration, 'Visions for a Net Zero' to develop and showcase evidence-based visions of what a climate-resilient net zero future would look like for six regions of the world. The six ‘Visions’ will be shared as part of the Science & Innovation Theme Day at COP26.

This year, TIA's Tourism Summit Aotearoa will be held in Hamilton on 1 September, with a day of discussions on workforce, wellbeing and the sustainable future of the tourism industry. The Tourism Awards will be held later that evening. Registrations are open here.
