Collaborating in the circular economy

Countdown stores across the country are utilising more than 11 million reusable CHEP crates to transport fresh produce from farms to stores instead of single use cardboard boxes. Countdown and its growers are saving more than 10,000 tonnes of carbon emissions – that’s the equivalent of planting more than 5000 trees a year. Read more about the collaboration here.   

Measuring emissions: a guide for organisations 2022

The Ministry for the Environment will release the 2022 update of the Measuring emissions: a guide for organisations on April 20. The guidance supports businesses and organisations to voluntarily measure and report their GHG emissions, in turn helping meet New Zealand’s emission reduction targets. The update will available here.

Good luck Jay

Good luck to our Leadership Manager Jay Crangle, who has finished with SBC this week to go on parental leave. Jay will be sorely missed by the team and the membership while she is on leave, but we wish her all the very best for the arrival of her little boy and her next exciting role as a mum.

Join us for the launch of our monthly CLC Masterclass Series to help signatories and SBC members make faster progress in their climate action.
With Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (modelled off the TCFD Framework) to be mandatory for the country's largest financial and insurance market participants from 2023, as well as a proposed requirement of the Coalition's new Statement of Ambition being consulted on, hear from Meridian Energy's Head of Sustainability Tina Frew with insights from practical experience leading Meridian's Climate-Related Financial Disclosure process.
Regardless of where you are on the journey, this is a session focused on those interested in embedding climate-related financial disclosure processes in their organisation.
