Hello again. Well, this week hasn’t quite turned out how anyone planned. I’d actually recorded a different message a couple of days ago and that is quite out of date now.

First of all, I want to send our thoughts and support to all of our SBC members facing level 3 Covid alert in Auckland and level 2 in the rest of the country. We’ve done this before, so we can manage this – we just need to stay calm and be kind.

Secondly, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our Annual Council Meeting and joint Climate Leaders Coalition business breakfast. We know that you will all be preoccupied with looking after your staff and your businesses right now.

We’ll see how everything goes in the next week or two and schedule a new date once we know more.

We considered options for meeting virtually, but recognised that for many of us, our current focus is, and has to be, on the immediate challenges facing our whānau, friends and businesses. As a result, we felt that now was not the appropriate time for the event we had planned.

At the moment we don’t know what the next few weeks will bring. It’s always possible that we will stay at these alert levels for longer. But we will continue to support you as we have done in the past.

If you need to stock up on masks, I recommend checking out the official ShopKiwi Buy New Zealand Made site for some excellent options on where to buy masks, and tips on how to wear them effectively.

I will be in touch in the next week once we know more. Thinking of you all, stay safe and be kind.
